COMES A NEW DAY

I don't remember the things that I did late last night
They say that I killed two men in a barroom fight
And left them face down in a puddle of red
And stumbled home drunkenly and fell into bed

A wail in the darkness
They brought reinforcements
Oh help me, oh help me, they'll take me away
I don't remember if I did what they say
I am afraid

CHORUS
Oh, Oh! Comes a new day
Six little children will never play
With their Daddy

I stare at the shadow cast by the lone light in my cell
And see that even with no illumination it's there
My bloody hands will follow wherever I go
No matter what I do I will always know

CHORUS

Oh help me, Oh help me
There comes a new day
Six little children will never play
With their Daddy
